Refusal Skills
This project was to create a children’s story book that is really easy for a certain age requirement to understand about refusal skills, what they are, how to use them, when to use them. At first we were to individually create a few ideas we had on a slide then partner up and share our ideas with each other. My ideas were having a multiple scenes of multiple cases. For example having every page a new person who has done bad things before and explain why it is not a good idea, and what happened to them after they got caught. Then I was reminded the age group of the children we are working with, which we have already decided around five to seven. After a few conversations about everyone’s ideas we agreed to do a mix of everyone’s which ended up being a story of a monster and his mother , the mother answering the questions her son has with examples of scenes that could possibly happen, what should he say, what he should do if it’s not working. We also agreed that we would have to make it colorful and attractive to catch any kid’s attention. After checking up with the teacher and having her look over it we started a slide template on the computers, having everything put on there like the text, the boarder, leaving room really only for the drawing which also had small descriptions of what we were drawing in that empty space. We printed it out and switched with the group closest to us, so we could give each other constructive ideas to help improve both of the groups story. After getting the information from the other group we added it to our slide template. It was around this time where we got to print out our story with full color and without descriptions. After the few weeks of getting to this point we all assigned each other certain parts of the story that needed to be drew so when it came to final draft all we had to do is tape the images on to the paper. I was proud of this assignment and how well it went; if I had to put this under a quality it would be communication and collaboration because we had to get the project done, even if we didn’t agree on something we learn that we just had to keep talking through it for a best possibly grade.
